Don't know M8. I can't remember what band my 3 bed, end of terrace home is.
It depends on where you are and what council you are under.

If you are on certain benefits you get council tax benefit, they don't change your band they just reduce what you pay.

You and I can at least agree on this one Julie.
Please make the most of it, as this doesn't happen very often!

Re: Outrageous Council Rates!

I pay £134 a month for a middle terrace. And I notice that this year there is a £22 charge to pay for homeless housing ..wonder who gets that seeing that Bristol is a city of sanctuary ..

We pay £1700 per annum for a small 3 bed (2 beds and a boxroom really) end terrace in West London.

Ah! I think I will shut up now having seen what you pay. You would think with your high density population that you would pay less than me, Mine is just a standard quarter acre block with a detached house.

You wouldn't get a gardenless studio flat no bedroom for what you pay Bruce

Re: Outrageous Council Rates!

I live in Shropshire in a small market town where protests and marches just don't happen. So during the time of the hated Poll Tax, we just had to go along to a much publicised protest about the Poll Tax outside the Council Offices.
The crowd must have been 5 x deep and I will never forget the councillors and staff coming out of the Council office door, accompanied by the police in order to get to their cars which were parked at the rear of the buildings. They were pelted with eggs and ripe tomatoes as they exited the office, I just couldn't believe what I was witnessing!!! but although I felt terribly sorry for the Councillors, I couldn't blame the people, they were absolutely livid about the Poll Tax.

How come no-one is protesting now ! what happens as our Council tax keeps rising and bin collections (which is a basic right) change to a four weekly bin collection.

It seems we have all lost the will to fight!

Re: Outrageous Council Rates!

Our Council Tax has hardly risen for years. I was surprised how little one poster was paying in London.

We pay £1,340 per annum for a 3 bedroom Victorian house, my daughter pays £1,721 for her 1970's house and she only lives 15mins away from me.
