Re: Splitting clumpy perennials after watching tv
Gardening programmes always make it look so easy Spinner - look at the soil they work with for starters, its lovely stuff - even when they say its clay and hard to work it still looks easy to me. All may not be lost and your Heuchera may not be dead - Heucheras are tough. Stuff always looks as if it is finished in winter time and when things have been split at the end of the year they always look even worse I think. Last week they were probably still covered in snow. They might not be ready to start up again yet. I walked round our garden today, keen to see what we could get started on, but it's so wet and heavy at the moment and some things are just beginning to get going - some haven't even started yet. We are not in March yet. I keep looking anxiously at my delphiniums because I moved a few at the end of the year and there is no sign of life. Ignore your heuchera for a bit and maybe if you look in a couple more weeks you might see them peaking through.Re: Splitting clumpy perennials after watching tv
Hi Spinner I am no expert gardener but I usually leave splitting any plants until the soil warms up a little to give the roots a better chance to grow away.Re: Splitting clumpy perennials after watching tv
