A missunderstood child or cold blooded killer?

My thoughts are that the sentence is about right. 20yrs isn't too long even though he is only a child.

A missunderstood child or cold blooded killer?
I would say someone with a serious antisocial personality disorder in need of professional help.

He needs to be locked up - seems an unknown quantity. Proud of what he's done?!
20yrs isn't too long in my book!

I agree, I don't think the sentence is too harsh but he does need help while he is incarcerated.

Im in agreement with you there Meg, I cannot help but think he slipped through the net with not being diagnosed with a disorder.
I also feel it could have been prevented , he had been talking of killing her on FB,and also showed the knife to friends ..
I hope he is sent to the right place now , not a Prison but a Hospital for Criminals ..Hopefully get some help before being released .

Re: A missunderstood child or cold blooded killer?

This young man sounds frighteningly similar to Adam Lanza the young perpetrator of the Sandy Hook Elementary School killings in the US. The main difference is that, luckily, being in the UK, Cornick had no access to guns. As he had at least two other names on his hit list (one a pregnant teacher) we have to be thankful for that, at least.
I'm not sure he will ever be safe to release. His intelligence and complete lack of any moral compass will make it fairly easy for him to con home office psychologists into thinking he is safe to release when he really won't be.

Yes I agree Mick, we've seen it happen before.

A psychologist has said that there would have been signs, probably at a much younger age, that have been missed. Who knows. The damage is now done.
