Snow in Scotland.

Hi

Early this year

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-34626210

A bad winter on the horizon?

I think so, winter birds arriving early, hens stopping laying early, all the signs.

Strangely enough bad winters here in the UK will be a sign of Global Warming, at least in the early stages as weather patterns change.

Re: Snow in Scotland.

The geese have been late in arriving this year - 3 or 4 weeks later than usual. A couple of weeks ago I was up in Speyside and the trees were turning some lovely autumn colours while here in N.E. Aberdeenshire, they were still green.

In the 9 years I've been here, we've been getting less snow each year. Hope we don't get any this time...

This is from 2009 outside my house....

Good for the skiing trade up North...Still pretty mild here in the Lowlands though,

All to do with EL NINO apparently.

The snow looks very pretty Grumblewagon. Do I miss it? Definitely not, the only place I want to see snow is in a picture.

Re: Snow in Scotland.

I recently posted a thread about the Bewick Swans breaking the previous record for their early arrival...
http://www.over50sforum.com/showthread.php?t=26764

I have a feeling it will be a cold long winter. Many of the leaves have already fallen here unusually early due to the frosts we have been getting for a few weeks now.

That is the way of things, some winters are hard but few seem to match the frequent hard winters we seemed to get when I was a child growing up in the Peak District

Brrrr. Bet my friend is glad she's just moved down from the Highlands to nearer Glasgow last week.

I'm not really fussed. If it gets bad I'll put winter tyres on the car - no big deal. People in Canada cope with ten times worse and consider it "normal".

They're probably a lot more used to it than we are though.
