Dont forget today is the final day to have your dog chipped before it becomes law.

Re: Chips with everything

My poor old dog is 17 now and I don't intend to have him chipped as he's very, very thin, has arthritis and never leaves our garden now.

Some days he doesn't look as though he'll last the day, then her perks up again. He eats well some days but just can't keep weight on. He never makes a mess in the house and drinks ok. He has half a painkiller twice a day.

He hates going to the vets so I just don't feel I can put him through this and he has no fat on him to insert a microchip.

If he still went for walks I would do it but he doesn't.

It's a very sad time isn't it when they're nearing the end of their lives. We've never had a dog yet that didn't make at least 16.

We have decided that this will be our last dog after a lifetime of owning dogs. The last few years I have seen a big increase in irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to jump up me or attack my dog and I just hate it. It spoils my walks.

The other thing is going abroad on holidays. We went to Tenerife last week and had to get my son to take a week off work and come here (4 hrs away) to dogsit as we never put our dogs in kennels. He's really good and never complains but it would be good not to have to ask him.
