Buddy Holly.

It's 58 years since Buddy Holly was killed in a plane crash. He was only 22 years old.
Have seen the show "Buddy" on stage a couple of times.Very touching when the spotlight shines on a guitar leaning on a chair on stage. Loved his music.

Re: Buddy Holly.

I was lucky enough to see him live at the Davis Theatre in Croydon. It must have been around 1956. I became an instant fan.

I just googled the date. It was in March 1958.
Sadly the theatre was demolished in 1959. I was a mere child of 19.

Re: Buddy Holly.

I was too young to ever see him, but my older sister had some of his records and I have always loved his music.

Re: Buddy Holly.

I was too young, too, but my OH, a few years older than me, has a cd that I play sometimes. His music seems so easy to listen to, I like it.

Seems a lot of entertainers died in plane crashes, very sad..

Re: Buddy Holly.

I do remember as a 15 year old standing on train going to work in the City I glanced down at some one reading the DM on the forth page saying he had died in a plane crash

Did not believe it and did not for about 5 years as records were still being produced.

The DM at the time was status quo and very very anti youth.

His death still hurts.

And it was the Day American Rock and Roll Died.
