Re: Zulu

Yes - and unfortunately an innocent child, with no chance against the greed and might of the British, Boer and others who thought they had right on their side.

Re: Zulu

Zulu is a great film. I've just watched Zulu Dawn and there's no comparism, you care for the characters in Zulu.

When you see the Zulu warriors line the horizon, the film makers didn't have enough people. So each Zulu is holding a cardboard cutout, to shake around a bit. Hi Tech special effects.

Re: Zulu

I think Stanley Baker and Michael Caine were made for their parts John, terrific performances.

Spot on. Did they win Oscars? I suppose I could check Google, but it sound's like you know.

Re: Zulu

Terrific film yes, but one of the best performances I think was Jack Hawkins as the missionary, pleading with the officers to withdraw, and shouting "You`re all going to die" in his gravel voiced hysteria. Excellent.

Re: Zulu

I'd forgotten about him. It MUST have been a great performance though because he was really annoying me. I was glad to see him locked up in the cage.

Re: Zulu

I'm not sure about the Oscars John, I haven't seen the film in quite a while but the way they acted together was magic, must watch it again soon. Yes poor old Jack Hawkins did well, but his character was a bit annoying.

Re: Zulu

Zulu didn't win any Oscars, it IS a foreign film after all. Found out that Stanley Baker was a producer though.

The Jack Hawkins character was parodied in my favourite science fiction comedy, Starship Troopers..."We're all going to die" was his catch phrase.
