Twixmas

Twixmas...saw this dreadful invented term in the paper the other day

It refers of course to the days between Christmas and New Year celebrations when you have no idea what the day is or who you are or what you're meant to be doing

But who invents these dreadful words, as if Brexit isn't bad enough!

Re: Twixmas

I used to take my boys on a Twixmas break at Butlins.
That was a while ago now, so the word must have been around a while before Brexit.

Oh I see!
Well I'd not heard it before... don't like made up words, can you think of any more?

I know...brunch, another word that grates on my nerves

I've never heard of it either, ruthio.

You are so right about the days being muddled in between though. I've kept having to ask people what day it is all week! Trouble is, if they are equally confused, how do I know if they are telling me the truth?

Don't mind Twixmas so much but I do hate "crimbo" - so disrespectful.

Re: Twixmas

I've just returned from a four day Twixmas break.
I think it's a very good word to describe the days between Christmas & New Year.

I haven't known all the time I was away what day it was!

Re: Twixmas

I'm not one for any of those made-up words. Most make me cringe!
Twixmas makes me think of the chocolate bar!
It should have at least been 'Twixtmas'!

The man's been off work all work, so all my days lately have been Saturday!
Not complaining!
